Meet Vanessa Murray

Vanessa Murray is a fully certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia, following completion of her Master of Speech Pathology and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Asian Studies and Linguistics at La Trobe University. 

About

Vanessa is a certified provider of the LSVT Loud program, which may benefit people living with Parkinson’s Disease to improve their vocal function. She is also a certified provider of the PEERS program (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) This is an evidence-based social skills intervention program for motivated teens and young adults who are interested in learning ways to help them make and keep friends.

 

Vanessa provides functional & holistic speech pathology programs
for each of her clients, including, but not limited to:

  • AAC including low-tech and high-tech options

  • literacy skills including phonological awareness, spelling & decoding, reading & writing

  • mealtime safety and swallowing strategies

  • pragmatics and social emotional learning with neurodivergent community

  • receptive and expressive language skills

  • treatment of vocal hyperfunction/misuse in the workplace

  • gender affirming voice and communication training

Vanessa provides targeted family-centred therapy for neurodivergent people, and those with learning differences and behaviours of concern. She also provides discreet telehealth / videoconferencing sessions for those who have busy schedules or are not able to visit the clinic in person.

Vanessa has over fifteen years’ experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to a wide demographic, both locally and internationally, and can provide one on one training to assist you or your loved one in IELTS preparation and accent reduction.

Being a passionate advocate of equality for all, Vanessa is sensitive to cultural, racial and gender differences. She has a firm understanding of intercultural communication and has played an active role in facilitating social inclusion in clients across varied social, cultural, gender and generational demographics. Most of all, she is keen to equip her clients with the right tools to express themselves effectively, both verbally and nonverbally and to assist in them finding their true voice.

When she’s not in the clinical space, Vanessa enjoys cooking for her friends, travelling, and watching movies.
